Merino’s Deli, recently opened at 6428 N. Florida Ave. serving up a wide array of specialty sandwiches, soups and salads using only the freshest ingredients. Owner Mike Merino and his friendly staff make sandwiches in front of your eyes, using top quality Italian, Spanish, and American meats and cheeses, topped with fresh veggies and stacked on freshly baked Italian bread or in mouth-watering wraps. The menu also includes soups and chili, as well as Italian favorites such as antipasto and pasta dishes. The food is served in a tight but comfy atmosphere. Shaded tables outside give the deli a uniquely Tampa-style, “Latin Quarter,” feel. The ambience is enhanced by Merino’s family photo wall, where customers are invited to exhibit photos of their families or ancestors. Old photos of Merino’s parents and grandparents pay homage to the culture of immigrant and first-and second-generation Italian American families. Merino, a Tampa native as well as a 30 year veteran of the food industry and also a 1969 Hillsborough High School graduate, mingles with customers, making them feel they are dining with old friends. I wish to personally invite you and your friends and family to visit Merinos Deli when you are in the beautiful Seminole Heights neighborhood. It will be my personal pleasure to ensure that your lunch or diner experience will be a lasting one!
